PRIDE GUIDE 1994 GAY PEOPLE'S CHRONICLE 13
Flirtations to perform on day and night of festival
The Flirtations, everyone's favorite proudly gay a cappella male singing group will perform in Cleveland as part of the Pride '94 festivities. The Flirts (as they are known to their legion of fans) will sing on the stage at Public Square, and then will join the North Coast Men's Chorus in concert at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium, June 11 at
8 pm.
The Flirtations began singing on the streets of New York's Greenwich Village in 1988. Recently they've been seen and heard on Good Morning America, Donahue, MTV News, Nightwatch, National Public Radio, and the HBO documentary Why Am I Gay? They've also taken part in last year's hit movie Philadelphia.
Each Flirtations concert is an event.
They'll charm you with songs from the fifties, ballads, rock, folk songs, gay anthems, and salsa. Along the way they'll share moments from their personal lives that will make you glow with recognition and leave you cheering for more.
Tickets for the concert are $12 in advance, $15 day of the show, and are available through Advantix by calling 241-6000, or any North Coast Men's Chorus member.
Lakewood Civic Auditorium is located at the corner of Franklin and Bunts Roads in Lakewood. There will also be a special "Flirt With the Flirts" party after the show to benefit the Chorus. Tickets are $35, with $25 of the price tax-deductible. Call 473-8919 for reservations.
